August Monthly Challenge Winner

We had a good variety of entries for our Dutch Angle challenge, and votes were scattered hither and thon. We also had a good display of how to properly use a dutch angle to subtly correct an image or add some tension. Thanks to the ENTM entrants for showing us that you had it in you.

But alas, there can only be one winner when there isn’t a tie – and we can all breathe easier because this means Ona won’t kill us for subjecting her to all these dutch angles.

With Go Big or Go Home, the winner for August is Ona and Amelie for their monster mashup!

Stay tuned for the September challenge, coming soon!

August Challenge Voting

It’s time to vote for the August winner! The theme for this month was Dutch Angles, the much maligned tool in photography used to convey feelings of unease or a dreamlike state.

We had seven photographers rise to the occasion and do their best to give you a tilted treat. Please click on each image to view it in more detail, and then vote for your favorite in the Google Poll below!

ENTM Runway Cycle 2: Meet Your Host & Judges

Lights. Camera. FASHION!

We here at Eorzea’s Neo Talent Management are thrilled to kick off our latest cycle: Runway Cycle. As our models get settled in with their challenges and prepare themselves for the upcoming competition let’s take a moment to get to know our host, Ni’ko Shae, and our panel of judges.

Tumblr/Classic Cycle 11 winner and regular supporter of all things ENTM your host Ni’ko Shae puts the purr in purple. Rumour suggests a time when he had no association with the colours purple, pink, or anything in between, but such ridiculous allegations are clearly without merit. Runway Cycle is his brainchild created with /gpose beginners in mind.

An ENTM staple since 2015, Katarh is our first-ever Runway winner returning to judge this cycle. You’ll be competing for her crown, which she has proclaimed she will gladly relinquish to the one deemed most worthy. But in her own words, “Focus on the fun first!”

An avid promoter and supporter of ENTM, Ona is our Tumblr Cycle 10 Community Vote winner, frequent judge, frequent winner of our Monthly Challenge, and goddess of mythology. We all welcome her grace and wit. Or else.

A favourite of our inaugural Fresh Faces Cycle returning to judge Escher is no stranger to the glamour game. With pink hair and a penchant for silly glamour Escher is always here to keep things a little strange.

Fairly fresh to Final Fantasy XIV, Aelyria has since fallen in love with the true endgame: /gpose and glamour! After a second-place finish in the inaugural Fresh Faces Cycle Aelyria has since become a staple of the judges’ panel.

Thank you to our judges for stepping in for this competition, and thank you all for your interest and support. We’ve got eight exciting weeks of fashion to forward, so please stay tuned. Voting will begin the first week of September.

Now then. Start your engines, and may the best model win!

ENTM Runway Cycle 2: Meet the Models

My name is Ni’ko Shae, and this is Eorzea’s Neo Talent Management Runway Cycle 2. The remix, the sequel, the blockbuster eleganza extravaganza. #shealreadydonehadherses. #eorzeasneotm. #hashtag. Thank you for joining us as we get to the source of some of the most fabulous talent we’ve had, and see who comes up first! Our models are ready to sashay, shante, panther on the runway in the hottest of haute couture Eorzea and beyond has to offer.

Introducing our fierce competitors, listed in alphabetical order by surname.

If you’ve watched or participated in previous cycles with ENTM then you should already have a general idea of how this all works. ENTM draws inspiration from competition reality shows, and challenges virtual photographers to come up with the best representation of a given theme for the week. At the end of the cycle whomever has the best cumulative score from both our judges and the voting community is crowned the winner. Competition is heavily based on photographic methods, as well as storytelling. Through ENTM many have learned new techniques, and been able to tap into a new side of creativity and appreciation for Final Fantasy XIV.

Runway Cycle takes a slightly different approach. It is a marriage between our typical inspirations and ruleset and the weekly Fashion Report challenge at the Gold Saucer. Each week our models will be presented with a theme, and a few key rules that vary week to week, such as using a particular colour of dye, having a particular piece of equipment visible, and so on and so forth. Photographic techniques are helpful, however are not a requirement. This is all about selling the garment. So long as you can capture your own pose well, and show the outfit clearly, then you’re all set to set fire to the runway.

That being said, this whole competition is nothing without our models! Thank you all for auditioning, and taking the time to participate in a fun game where the true reward is the journey and friends we make along the way (and also the only reward; there is no actual prize, sorry, we’ve had several budget cuts ever since The Incident). I hope you all have fun, and enjoy the experience.

Stay tuned as our models prepare themselves over the next month. In the coming weeks we’ll be revealing our judges for the cycle, and we still have our monthly challenge to enjoy! Voting will begin the first week of September.

Now then. Start your engines, and may the best model win!

August Monthly Challenge

Dutch angles have often brought controversial debates within the ENTM community; some people love them and others loathe them. In the name of fun and learning, Forthyn and Aelyria wanted to challenge everyone to submit their best dutch angle shot, following guidelines established for dutch angles in cinematography.

For the uninitiated, dutch angles are also known as canted angles, dutch tilts, or oblique angles. Usually, screenshots are oriented in such a way that the angle is parallel with the bottom of the camera frame (horizontal or true vertical shots). Dutch angles quite literally turn these on their side. Within cinematography and photography, dutch angles are used to portray a sense of uneasiness or tension, or to push the sense of something being “off/wrong” about a scene or character.

However, it can also be used to “fix” visual movement and be a subtle asset to the scene. Within FFXIV’s own Gpose, a slight dutch dock can contribute greatly to a shot, and completely avoid the harsher connotations it is better known.

So let’s get a little twisted and see your best dutch shot! Time to get Tilted!

♡ Forthyn and Aelyria

July Monthly Challenge Winner

Hi folks! The challenge for July was Sparkling Eorzea and all the shots had to have some pocket lint fireworks in them!

Votes were scattered across the pictures like diamonds in the sky, but we had a clear plurality for one shot in particular.

Congratulations to Aelyriia and Forthyn (and guest star Ilberd) for their entry this month! And stay tuned for the August challenge, coming soon!
