July Monthly Challenge Winner

Hi folks! The challenge for July was Sparkling Eorzea and all the shots had to have some pocket lint fireworks in them!

Votes were scattered across the pictures like diamonds in the sky, but we had a clear plurality for one shot in particular.

Congratulations to Aelyriia and Forthyn (and guest star Ilberd) for their entry this month! And stay tuned for the August challenge, coming soon!

Scenic Cycle – Yggdrasil – Results

“An ash I know, Yggdrasil its name,
With water white is the great tree wet;
Thence come the dews that fall in the dales,
Green by Urth’s well does it ever grow.
Thence come the maidens mighty in wisdom,
Three from the dwelling down ‘neath the tree;
Urth is one named, Verthandi the next,
On the wood they scored, and Skuld the third.
Laws they made there, and life allotted
To the sons of men, and set their fates.”

This week we asked our photographers to go out into the world and take an image of their interpretation of “Yggdrasil” the mythological tree of the Norse Gods.

In the Prose Edda, Yggdrasil is described as:
“The ash is of all trees the biggest and the best. Its branches spread out over the world and extend across the sky. Three of the tree’s roots support it and extend very, very far. One is among the Æsir [Asgard], the second among the frost-giants, where Ginnungagap once was. The third extends over Niflheim, and under that root is Hvergelmir, and Nidhogg gnaws the bottom of the root. Yggdrasil’s three great roots are watered by three wells, Urdarbrunnr, Hvergelmr, and Mimisbrunnr. Urdarbrunnr, or Urda’s Well, is tended by the three Norn maidens, Urda (Past), Verdandi (Present), and Skuld (Future), who spin the threads of fate for all beings.

The photographers didn’t disappoint and it was a tough choice for the judges but the winner of this week was:

Forthyn S’yel!

Forth, your image of “Yggdrasil” was described as mystical and overgrown, and filled with beautiful sunlight and pops of color. It is truly magnificent and definitely cannot be contained by any device made from man.

Stay tuned for the winner of the Scenic Cycle 2.0!

Scenic Cycle – Yggdrasil – Final Week

Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill) is an immense mythical tree that plays a central role in Norse cosmology, where it connects the Nine Worlds.

Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is center to the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their things, traditional governing assemblies.

The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urðarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the dragon Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr, and Duraþrór.

This week, we asked our Photographers to go out, for their final week, and snap a photo of “Yggdrasil”, a tree fit for the Gods. Here are their amazing shots for our final week.

This week, we also have a guest judge – Ni’ko Shae!
The judges have until Tuesday 10pm to get their scores and critiques in!

Scenic Cycle – Post Cards from Home – Results

Last week we asked our talented photographers to head home and take a stunning photo in a residential district for “Postcards from Home”. Our Photographers once again wowed us with some breathtaking shots, but only one image took the win and that photographer was

Hela Frosty!

Shirogane under the Stars
Hela, the judges loved your balance between the clouds and apartment building, the vivid colors, and the choice to shoot at night! They also applauded you for the effort to get to the top of that jump puzzle for a shot!

Fantastic Shot this week! Congratulations!

Come back next week for the final round in Scenic Cycle 2!
Images go up at 10pm on Saturday!

Runway Cycle 2 Auditions Are Open

In Eorzea and beyond one thing is known far and wide: glamour is the true endgame. Here at Eorzea’s Neo Talent Management we seek to not only develop one’s photography skills, but learn to strike a pose and sashay that runway as the true fashionista you’re all born to be. If you’ve ever been considering trying out but felt hesitant, well, henny now is your chance to strut your stuff and show us what you can do.

Announcing open auditions for our Runway Cycle. The rules are a little bit different, but in short the main focus here is all about you and how haute your couture really is. Each week you’ll be given a challenge which may include specific outfit accents, dye choices, or make-up choices you’ll need to follow. Other than that we want to see your interpretation of the theme. You’ll be encouraged to come up with cohesive outfits, strike a pose, and even go on location if you’re wanting the total experience. However, so long as the focus is all on you you’re doing it alright. To audition we will need three separate images of you (see example below; images shown as single image for the sake of Discord formatting). The first two are simple enough, but the third is a good taste of how the cycle works!

Bust Shot

A shot from the chest up. Show us your pretty face!

Casual Wear Shot

Show us what you’d wear off the battlefield.

Purple Reign

This is a glamour shot, meaning you’ll want to be in high fashion for this. Gowns, suits, get creative. Dress to the tens, because the nines just ain’t enough. For this shot you’ll need your entire outfit to be shades of purple either by way of the garment’s natural colour or utilizing dye. I highly recommend attention to accessories’ compliment, and perhaps even calling on our friend Jandelaine, the aesthetician. For this shot you must ensure your character is within an area of 1080×1920 pixels as this image will be used for the cast announcements.

Audition shots must be submitted to your host Ni’ko Shae via Discord DM (Ni’ko Shae#6839), DM via Twitter @EorzeasNeoTM, or e-mailed to eorzeasntm@gmail.com by midnight (CST) on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 with the cast announcement on Friday, August 7th, 2020. You are also more than welcome to join our Discord server for updates, and to join in on the conversation: https://discord.gg/n4fe7VF

In the interest of fairness the core rules for this cycle prohibit the use of all third-party modifications, the FFXIV watermark must be visible on all entries, frames are not to be used, and all images are to be taken portrait-style. Contestants must remain as the same character/race/gender in each image as they were for their audition. Due to the nature of the competition all participants must be at least level 15 with dye access and the aesthetician unlocked.

This competition will last for eight weeks, and is non-elimination. Contestants will be given until midnight (CST) Thursday, September 3rd to submit all eight weeks’ worth of images with voting for the first week going live on Friday, September 4th. Each week up until midnight (CST) on Thursday contestants will be allowed to change their submission as judges’ opinions and advice may inspire otherwise. At the end of eight weeks the cumulative scores will be tallied, and our winner will be crowned!

Good luck! And don’t fudge it up.

Scenic Cycle 2 – Postcards from Home

The idea of sending a postcard is to share your adventures with others.

Visit Yellowstone National Park? Send a postcard to Grandma.
Grand Canyon? Send one to your Sister.
The Eiffel Tower? Send one to your ex-girlfriend.

Actually… don’t do that.

But have you ever sent a postcard, from HOME?
What do YOU see when you think of Home?

This week we sent the Photographers out into their worlds to take photos from home.
The requirements included – in a residential district, and with one of three allowable frames.

Our Judges will have until 10pm on Tuesday to rank and critique the images.
Come back then to see the winner!

Scenic Cycle – Mountains of the Mind – Results

And then something Tookish woke up inside him, and he wished to go ...

J.R.R. Tolkien – The Hobbit

We sent our photographers out into the world to find and capture grand images of grandeur. Mountains of their mind. Though all of the mountains spoke beauty and an intimidating presence to all, one in particular towered over the others.

Forthyn S’yel with “Might of Mountains”

We congratulate Forthyn with another well deserved win this week with your image.
Our judges likened this image to a scene from the Tolkien, and we could not agree more.

Come back Saturday for our fifth week of images!

Scenic Cycle 2 – Mountains of the Mind

“Those who travel to mountain-tops are half in love with themselves, and half in love with oblivion.” ― Robert Macfarlane, Mountains of the Mind: A History of a Fascination

This week, our photographers were challenged to go out and take a photo of mountains using the echo filter. As evidenced below, the echo filter can prove beautifully different depending on time of day and weather!

Judges have until Tuesday 10pm to judge the images and provide critiques!
For now, enjoy the Mountains of our Photographer’s minds.
